GUM studio in occasione della XIV Biennale Internazionale di Scultura di Carrara propone un indagine sulla scena artistica nella Repubblica Ceca. Un progetto che mette a confronto due generazioni di artisti, cresciuti prima e dopo la caduta del regime socialista. Alla curatrice Andrea Štekrová é stato chiesto di invitare sei artisti under 35 a confrontarsi con la generazione che li ha preceduti rappresentata da Jiří Kovanda, uno dei più influenti artisti concettuali in Repubblica Ceca e non solo. “Transfer of location“ è il trasferimento di un piccolo campione di arte Ceca in una galleria italiana. Un arte che lavora e reagisce allo spazio, aprendo a svariati modi d’intendere il tema: da un semplice trasferimento architettonico, sociologico o visivo dalla Repubblica Ceca all’Italia, a un lavoro di significati e connotati trasposti, nella sfera astratta, con comunicazioni tra luoghi diversi.

For the XIV Biennale Internazionale di Scultura di Carrara (The 14th International Biennial Sculpture Exhibition), GUM Studio has chosen to present an insight into the contemporary art scene of the Czeck Republic. This project will compare two generations of artists, from before and after the end of the socialist regime. The curator Andrea Štekrová has been asked to invite six artists under the age of 35 to be contrasted with the previous generation, represented by Jiří Kovanda, one of the most influential conceptual artists in the Czeck Republic and beyond. ‘Transfer of location’ is thus the displacement of a small sample of Czeck art into an Italian space. This theme is open to multiple possible readings. Since the art works with and reacts to the gallery space, it can be understood simply as a social, visual or spatial movement from the Czeck Republic to Italy, or in a more abstract way, it may refer to a work with transposed meanings and connotations and therefore comunication between different places.
